Electrical tech students designed laundry racks for apartment tenants

A team of students from electrical technology of Keningau Vocational College has designed a partially automated laundry rack for apartment residents that is more adaptable to the weather. Macryon Jurdon Bin Jemas, Charles Pius and Bonnyfice Owen Majani were awarded with a bronze medal for this project at Digital Innovation and Invention Challenge 2021 organized by SM Sains Pasir Puteh, Kelantan on 20 April 2021.

Automated laundry rack is a self-adjusting light and water sensitive rack for apartment residents. The team claimed that the residents often feel frustrated to return homes and find their clothes wet and dripping with water on drying racks outside their houses. They believed that unpredictable nature of weather and limited space for drying racks make it harder for apartment tenants to dry their clothes outside their homes. Hence, they invented this clothing rack that is is equipped with automated mechanism which can prevent clothes from being exposed to raindrops. It can automatically extend forward when it senses sunlight and folds back when it detects raindrop. Thus, it prevents clothing from getting soaked under the rain and it ensures that it receives sunlight during bright days. The director of the college, Johari @ Jaibet Bin Sabin, stated that he fully supported the students’ initiative in solving the problem.  Their presentation video can be viewed from this link: https://youtu.be/QcZhDeyTXd8
